Building Intercultural Competence Workshop (online)

As we use these spaces to learn and practice our art, we also want to honour and acknowledge that Hantsport is the traditional land of the Mi’kmaq people, known as Kakagwek which means a “place where meat is sliced and dried.” We wish to thank the First Nations people for welcoming newcomers from other countries and for their continued peace and friendship.

With deep respect, we also acknowledge that Black culture has shaped Dance History on a global scale. Many of the dance styles that we practice at GMB every day; like Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, and others; are deeply rooted in traditional African and Black American culture. We wish to honour the Black influences that have transformed the art of movement in North America and beyond.
