GMB Dance Company
The GMB Dance Company brings together dancers who are passionate about creating, rehearsing, and performing works for the stage.
We are about growth, teamwork, and sharing our love of dance with audiences of all kinds.
Junior & Youth Companies
The Company is divided into two groups:
Junior Company (ages 8–11)
Youth Company (ages 12–18)
Company welcomes dancers of all experience levels, from beginner to advanced. Company is built on commitment: being present, giving your best, and working together as a team. Each dancer is challenged in a supportive environment with expectations that match their stage of development.
Junior and Youth members also come together for full-company choreography, where younger dancers learn from their older peers, and older dancers grow as leaders and mentors in a positive environment.
What Company Dancers Do
Create choreography for different events, focusing mainly on ballet, contemporary, and jazz dance styles.
Rehearse weekly in their own group and as part of the full company.
Perform at local community events, GMB’s annual recital, and on stages beyond the Hantsport area.
Build teamwork, accountability, and resilience while developing technical and artistic skills.
The GMB Company Experience
Company dancers commit to regular rehearsals and performances and follow the Company Agreement, which emphasizes kindness, positivity, and respect.
Our goal is for dancers to leave the Company with stronger technique, stage experience, and the confidence to pursue dance in whatever way they choose — whether professionally, recreationally, or simply as a lifelong joy.
✨ Company is where GMB dancers take their passion for dance and bring it to the stage — together. ✨

2025/26 Company Agreement
As members of the GMB Dance Company, we strive to embody kindness, positivity, and an open mind. We appreciate focus, helpfulness, drive, passion, and hard work, as well as respect for our fellow dancers, our shared spaces, and each other’s belongings.
Our Commitments
We are here to:
Learn – strengthen our dance-specific skills and explore a variety of styles.
Grow together – work in solos, small groups, and as a company; share ideas and adapt to challenges.
Practice grit – show focus, determination, and resilience even when things feel hard.
Overcome challenges – meet mistakes, stress, and setbacks with compassion for ourselves and others.
Enjoy ourselves – through choreography, creativity, and friendship.
Attendance & Engagement
We value consistent attendance but understand that life can be unpredictable.
If a company member must be absent, we will communicate by email as early as possible to support@gmbdancer.com.
Injured dancers are encouraged to attend rehearsals in person to observe and stay engaged in ways that feel safe.
Company members are expected to take responsibility for catching up on missed choreography or notes.
Support & Accountability
We commit to supporting one another by:
Using accountability buddies and check-ins to stay connected.
Respecting differences and resolving conflicts with patience and kindness.
Agreeing that if we cannot find resolution in the moment, we will set the issue aside and move forward without holding onto negative feelings.
Reporting any bullying or unsafe behaviour to Miss Jen or Miss Katie right away.
Feedback & Growth
We understand that critiques from instructors, peers, and adjudicators are intended to help us grow in technique and performance. Feedback does not reflect one’s personal worth.
Our Purpose
We are here to practice for the stage; to create, rehearse, and perform dance works that tell stories, showcase our strength, as individuals and as a group, and share the joy of dance with our community.
✨ Together, we commit to making the Company a place where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive. ✨
Dancers are given opportunities to perform for others, building confidence and community.
Company 2024/25 & Agreement
As members of the GMB Dance Company, we strive to embody kindness, positivity, and an open mind. We appreciate focus, helpfulness, drive, passion, and hard work, as well as respect for our fellow dancers, shared spaces, and each other's belongings.
We value consistent attendance but understand that life is, at times, unpredictable. If a company member must be absent from a rehearsal or performance, we encourage open communication with fellow members and instructors to help manage any missed time. Even injured dancers are warmly invited to join us by observing and staying engaged in class.
We will let GMB know as soon as possible, in writing, about any anticipated absences. If a company member feels unwell, we have the option of remaining engaged in rehearsals virtually through FaceTime or Zoom.
If anyone feels uncomfortable for any reason, we are committed to fostering a safe environment through supportive discussion. In difficult situations, our goal is to seek a resolution together.
In the spirit of teamwork, if an issue arises and we cannot reach a resolution, we agree to kindly put it aside and move forward without holding onto any negative feelings.
GMB members understand that any critiques or feedback from instructors, peers and adjudicators are intended to enhance our understanding of dance technique and performance skills and do not reflect one’s personal worth.

Representing the School with Pride and Purpose
All GMB dancers are held to high standards of dedication, respect, and teamwork—but as public ambassadors for the school, GMB Company members are expected to go even further. Their conduct, both in and out of class, should reflect the values of GMB Dance and serve as a positive example for others.
We know that everyone has tough days, and we encourage students to speak openly about how they’re feeling. However, if a dancer repeatedly disrupts class, shows disregard for the group, or intentionally harms the learning environment, we will follow up with the student and their Primary Contact to find a constructive path forward.
Company members must consistently demonstrate the K.A.R.E. Guidelines in all spaces they represent GMB Dance:
Kindness – Try your best and allow others the same opportunity.
Attitude – Bring a positive mindset to help foster growth and resilience.
Respect – Listen carefully, care for the space, and support each other.
Enjoyment – Dance should feel joyful and fulfilling. If that spark fades, let’s talk.
Audition requirements
1) Dancers must be able to commit to the listed dates for Company Class in addition to their weekly technique classes and performance opportunities. (Click Here for Projected Company Dates & Expectations for 2025/2026)
2) Dancers wishing to audition for the GMB Company for the 2025/2026 Season must prepare a short statement, submitted in writing or spoken aloud, that answers the question:
“Why do you want to dance with GMB Company?”
3) Dancers must prepare a 30 to 60-second piece of choreography to be performed at the audition. This demonstrates a level of fearlessness and the student’s general development.
Dancers do not require previous dance training to audition.
If dancers want to use music, please provide the specific Spotify or YouTube link. The song's name and artist are OK, but some songs have different versions. Please bring your Bluetooth-compatible audio device if your accompaniment is unavailable on Spotify or YouTube.
GMB Dance hopes everyone who auditions will be selected to join the Company. However, this may not be the case. The primary criteria for selection will be attitude and desire.
If your dancer is not ready to join the Company for the upcoming Season, GMB Dance will notify you privately and be available to discuss the decision. Dancers and their families must be able to commit to the proposed schedule and adhere to the Company Agreement.
