Junior & Youth Companies

GMB Dance Company is a group of dedicated dancers who work together throughout the year to create, rehearse, and share choreography.

Company offers a deeper experience of dance training for the stage, with a focus on collaboration, performance, and commitment to the group process.

Schedule & Structure

Company classes take place on Saturdays at the Hants Border Community Hall and are structured to include both small-group and shared work.

Junior Company (Ages 8 – 11)
10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Youth Company (Ages 12 - 18)
11:15 am – 12:45 pm

Junior dancers begin with 45 minutes of focused group work
The companies then come together for 45 minutes of shared technique, team-building, and creative exploration
Youth dancers finish with 45 minutes of advanced group work

The shared class time is an important part of the program, fostering connection, mentorship, and a strong sense of ensemble across age groups.

The Company season runs from September through June and includes approximately 33 weeks of Saturday rehearsals.

Dancers participate in a range of performance opportunities throughout the year, which may include:

community performances
seasonal performances at the local seniors’ and care homes
one competitive experience
additional opportunities as they arise

Tuition

Company tuition reflects the full season of training, rehearsal, and performance opportunities.

Annual company tuition | $895
Any regular season class tuition (required) | $496

Additional Costs:

Dancers are given opportunities to perform for others, building confidence and community.

Commitment & Becoming a Member

Company dancers are asked to commit to the full season and to prioritize rehearsals and performances. This shared commitment allows the group to work consistently and build strong, cohesive pieces.

GMB Dance Company is an audition-based program.

Dancers who are interested in joining Company must attend our annual audition. This process helps us get to know each dancer and how they may grow within the Company environment.

Company Auditions

Company auditions are held in June after the Year-End Recital. Dancers can express their interest by completing the company audition form here

Audition Requirements

Commitment
Dancers must be able to commit to the Company schedule, including Saturday rehearsals, a weekly technique class, and performance opportunities throughout the season.

Personal Statement
Dancers are asked to prepare a short statement (written or spoken) responding to: “Why do you want to dance with GMB Company?”

Choreography
Dancers must prepare a 30–60 second piece of choreography. This allows us to see creativity, confidence, and individual movement style.

Additional Notes

Previous dance training is not required
For in-person auditions, please provide a specific Spotify or YouTube link for your music in advance

Selection

While we aim to create a supportive and welcoming audition experience, not all dancers may be selected.

Selection is based primarily on attitude, readiness, and desire to be part of the group.

If a dancer is not selected, families will be notified privately, and we are always available to connect and discuss next steps.

Representing GMB with Purpose

All GMB dancers are held to high standards of dedication, respect, and teamwork—but as public ambassadors for the school, GMB Company members are expected to go even further. Their conduct, both in and out of class, should reflect the values of GMB Dance and serve as a positive example for others.

We know that everyone has tough days, and we encourage students to speak openly about how they’re feeling. However, if a dancer repeatedly disrupts class, shows disregard for the group, or intentionally harms the learning environment, we will follow up with the student and their Primary Contact to find a constructive path forward.

Company members must consistently demonstrate the K.A.R.E. Guidelines in all spaces they represent GMB Dance:

Kindness – Try your best and allow others the same opportunity.
Attitude – Bring a positive mindset to help foster growth and resilience.
Respect – Listen carefully, care for the space, and support each other.
Enjoyment – Dance should feel joyful and fulfilling. If that spark fades, let’s talk.
