COVID-19 Safety Protocols

for Dance Classes

July, 2022

Dear GMB Dance Families,

As we continue to navigate the Covid-19 Pandemic, we trust that you are making the best decisions for you and your family. Masks are optional and the decision to wear one or not is respected by all.

Our dance space capacity, and the size of our cohorts, allows us to continue operations as usual. However, please consider before attending or sending students to class if they are sick.

Please contact support@gmbdancer.com with any questions or concerns for you or your dancer.

Respectfully Yours,

Miss Jen

Diversity, Equality & Inclusion

Give Me Brilliance (GMB) dance classes provide a place where everyone, irrespective of their age, gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, language, sexual orientation, ability, disability and social circumstance, feels a sense of belonging, is respected and valued, and has their individual needs understood and met as far as resources allow within the context of the services provided by GMB.

All participants are enabled to participate in all aspects of the curriculum/programme meaningfully, and learning extends to challenge and promote the individual’s abilities and development.

Should a circumstance arise where the resources, including instructor knowledge, do not meet the requirements for safe or fulfilling learning, all efforts will be made to remedy this. Strategies may include discussion with the student, the family or other professionals who may help better the situation. All communication will be respectful and come from a place of care, and privacy will be highly regarded at all times.

Anti-Bullying

GMB will always observe and respect the individual and their identity without judgement or discrimination and expect all others, including students and their families, to do the same.

Should anyone involved in the activities of GMB feel they are the target or have witnessed another as the target of discrimination or bullying, they can feel confident that Miss Jen or any other instructor working with GMB will listen to their problem.

  • Students will always have the opportunity to discuss their experiences.

  • GMB will believe them.

  • Students will be offered continuous support.

Students who are bullying others will:

  • Have the opportunity to discuss what is happening.

  • Establish any wrongdoing and what needs to change.

  • Parents, guardians or the primary contact will be informed to help create positive change.

Restoring and maintaining a relaxed and safe learning environment for every student is of utmost importance.

Dancers are also encouraged to reach out to others if they are experiencing bullying in their lives.

BullyingCanada offers a toll free hotline with a team of over 350 trained volunteers to help (877) 352-4497

Image Capture & Social Media

One of the best ways to share the fun of dancing with each other is through photographs and video. GMB also uses images captured in its marketing.

Agreeing to a Photo and Video Release, or Image Capture Waiver, is part of registration, which means GMB can use images of students and families of GMB on the GMB website, social media pages, in brochures or other promotional materials.

It is understood that no identifying information is ever attached without permission.

Should a family not agree to this policy, this must be communicated to GMB in writing. All efforts will be made to ensure images of these individuals will not be used publicly.

Respect of Space

GMB is gratefully using the gymnasium of Hantsport Baptist Church. All dancers with GMB must respect and follow the rules of the space. Please treat all property of the church with great care. Dancers and their families will be responsible for any breakage or damage to the facilities.

The consumption of alcohol, marijuana, and/or illegal substances, smoking or vaping are not allowed on church premises.

Injury, Illness & Absences

As dance is a physical activity, there is always some risk of injury. Therefore, injuries should be taken seriously and looked after, some with rest and time, others with professional medical attention.

Students are encouraged to attend class and observe if they are rehabilitating an injury that allows them to do so. Observation, including note-taking, is an excellent practice.

If a student is ill, GMB asks that they stay home until healthy again.

Suppose students cannot physically participate in more than three classes, either because of injury or illness. In that case, it is recommended that they withdraw from the session and wait until they are healthy and healed to continue.

General Payment Policies

As sessions require 5 or more dancers to run, GMB reserves the right to cancel any class without sufficient registration. In the event of a class cancellation, students who registered and paid for the class will receive a full refund.

All fees must be paid before the first class of each session. Payments can be made via e-transfer to support@gmbdancer.com, cash or credit card via a secure link.

Should a student wish to cancel their enrolment after a session has begun, GMB must be notified via email at support@gmbdancer.com prior to the third class in order to be eligible for a refund of remaining classes (not applicable to any already taken).
