Tips for a Great Class Experience
A first dance class can be both a wonderful milestone and a little bit nerve-wracking.
Here are some tips for preparing for the best class experience possible!
What To Pack in Your Dance Bag
A filled water bottle
Ballet slippers or jazz shoes, if enrolled in those classes
Sticker Chart (provided by GMB Dance)
Snack for after class
Change of clothes with extra underclothes - just in case 😬. If possible, it is most helpful if students have used the washroom before class.
Arrival and Entry to Studio
In accordance with the newly mandated COVID-19 safety protocols, persons over the age of 12 must provide proof of vaccination to enter the building.
If you cannot enter the building because of these protocols, please tell me so that I know to meet your dancer outside before class, and walk them to you waiting at the door after class.
Parents and caregivers are asked to bring their dancer to the side building of the Hantsport Baptist Church called the Wellwood Community Hall. Go up the stairs and to the left, or use the ramp. The gymnasium is on the right and I will meet you there.
Outdoor clothes will be left in the hallway, including boots and jackets with the colder weather.
Although there is a washroom for use, there are no change rooms at this time. I would recommend having your dancer suited up in their dance clothing before coming to the studio.
Please have your child class-ready 5 minutes before it starts so we can use the most of our time together.
After Class and Picking Up Your Dancer
When the class is over, parents and caregivers are asked to be ready to pick up their dancer on time. Classes are running back to back, so it is really helpful that you are there for your child when the door opens so the next group of students can enter on time.
If you have provided proof of vaccination, please come into the building to wait for your dancer for an easy and secure hand-off.
Observation and Demonstration Class
Parents and caregivers will not be allowed in the studio during our class, but the door will remain open until all children have arrived, or 5 minutes after class has begun. Please try not to crowd around the door trying to sneak peeks!
On the last day, family and friends are invited to watch a demonstration of what we have learned over the 8-week session. It will be a socially distanced, casual and safe performance - taking pictures is encouraged! I just ask that you are respectful of the other children, and focus your camera on only your dancer.
In Case of Emergency
If you are running late or an emergency requires care of your dancer at the studio, please text me 604 315 9296. I will make sure your dancer is safe.
✨ I hope this helps with some pre-class jitters, but of course if you would like to discuss anything further,
don't hesitate to reach out. ✨
