About GMB
Mission
GMB Dance was created to foster a love of dance by providing healthy and supportive instruction for dancers of many ages, abilities, and levels of experience, guiding them compassionately toward becoming technically proficient and expressive artists.
Vision
GMB Dance aims to develop critical thinkers equipped with practical skill-sets by providing engaging lessons and opportunities through positive experiences in dance.
GMB Dance wants students to leave its care with a rich understanding of the material and the confidence to continue to grow and engage in this world with kindness, compassion, and professionalism.
Terminology
Healthy - with respect and kindness to the bodies and minds of all participating.
Supportive - with the understanding there are different ways of learning and experiencing the classroom.
Technically Proficient - the opportunity to progress in their chosen genre of dance study through a comprehensive curriculum and internationally recognized dance methodology and syllabi:
Ballet: Royal Academy of Dance (RAD);
Jazz: Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT), Performing Arts Educators of Canada (PAEC); and/or
Modern/Contemporary: Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).
Tap: Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).
Expressive - the art of dance as a means of self-expression, communication, and dissemination of information.
Ages – classes are open to dancers of all ages who are able to participate independently, without a parent or guardian. This helps young dancers build confidence and ease separation anxiety.
Abilities – dancers with disabilities are warmly welcomed. Support persons may accompany dancers when arranged in advance, ensuring everyone has a safe and positive experience.
Levels of Experience – dancers ranging from complete beginners with no prior training to seasoned and professional artists.
